French photographer Philippe Moisan traverses between Paris and Brazil for his work. For WestEast fashion photo essay on São Paulo, he says, “São Paulo is one of the three biggest cities in the world, the biggest in South America. This is an exotic, pluricultural and pluriethnic megapolis. It is vertical, vertical, vertical. On the ground is Hell and reality, on the top, peace and paradise. The symbolism is also in the high verticality ascencion of the buildings. I wanted to do a subject on relationships between Christianity and Animism, Multi-ethnicity and beliefs. A parallel between desire and ecstasy, colour, and black and white.”
