A former Hong Kong girl now based in Los Angeles, covering fashion, beauty and Hollywood. Kavita Daswani used to be the fashion editor of the South China Morning Post and the Asian correspondent for the Fairchild group (Women’s Wear Daily), to whom she still contributes regularly. She rapidly became accustomed to LA’s more laidback way of doing things, and now, frequently writes while still clad in her pajamas. Her closet is almost entirely made up of sweatpants and T-shirts, and she has not worn high heels in two years.
Kavita has written two novels and is working on her third, which will be out next summer. With two small boys — three and four months — it’s a chore juggling all this, but it helps enormously to have a stay-at-home husband. Luxury for her is no longer about Blahniks and Prada. “It’s about finding the time to sit in the bath for more than 15 minutes.”
